Hole 9 – Dog’s Leg

588 yards

Our longest par 5, it generally requires three well-struck shots to reach the green in regulation. Added width in the fairway now offers multiple strategic routes from tee to green, letting you choose lines based on wind, confidence with the longer clubs, and preferred angles into the green.

The existing fairway bunker on the inside of this dog leg left has been restored to its original scale using early black-and-white photographs. The main lay-up zone for second shots was originally a ditch and wetland; that hazard has now been recast as a bunker complex, accompanied by significant fairway widening to the left, inviting more aggressive second shots for those who can navigate the hazard. The approach is guarded by bunkers left and right, framing the entrance to the green. Short-siding yourself will only compound the difficulty.

The green’s high left mounding has been rebuilt based on multiple early photos. The central spine remains the defining feature of the putting surface, and the original false front has been reintroduced. Approaches that come up just short or on the wrong side of the spine will leave a delicate touch for par.
