Hole 7 – Maiden

373 yards

Maiden greens are defined by two high rear plateaus separated by a lower swale. On this hole, an accurate tee shot must be followed by a precise approach, particularly when the flag is tucked on one of the rear “maiden” platforms.

The cape tee shot plays to a dogleg right fairway bordered by oak trees and marsh on the right. Longer hitters who try to cut the corner will find four bunkers squeezing the left side of the landing area, while a large bunker protects the front-left of the approach and green.

The green’s false front has been rebuilt, and the two rear platforms and intervening swale have been restored according to LaFoy’s measurements and an early photograph from shortly after the course opened. Approaches that land on the wrong level—or fail to carry the false front—will leave very demanding two-putts or delicate chips. Don’t go long!
