Hole 2 – Valley
394 Yards
From the tee, the wide, but narrowing, fairway falls into a shallow valley before rising back up to the green. The elevation change is modest, but just enough to make the approach feel awkward—especially when the wind is up and you’re between clubs.
This is classic Seth Raynor strategy laid right in front of you: if you take on the trouble, you earn the best angle. The restored diagonal carry bunker down the left now properly asks you to decide how much of it to bite off. Challenge the left fairway bunker complex and you’re rewarded with a cleaner look and angle into the cape-style green. Play safely out to the right and you’ll find ample fairway, but a much more demanding approach into the green.
The green’s false front and original contouring have been brought back, including a bump in the front right of the green and another in the center of the green as well as a reconstructed rise at the rear. The green has also gained some usable area, most notably in the back right corner. The greenside bunkers now match their original shapes and scale, sharpening the demand on your approach.
