Hole 10 – Alps
418 yards
The historic “Alps” hole is one of Seth Raynor’s most recognizable and strategic designs, inspired by the famous 17th hole at Prestwick Golf Club in Scotland. Traditionally, Alps holes feature an approach shot played over a large mound, often with limited visibility of the green beyond it.
As part of our restoration work, several updates have been made to improve both visibility and playability while preserving the character of the original design.
The most noticeable change is on the right side of the hole, where a portion of the large Alps mound has been lowered. This now gives players a clear view of the green and front bunker when approaching from the right side of the fairway, rewarding a well-placed tee shot.
Players choosing the shorter route down the left side will still face a more demanding approach, navigating both the fairway bunkers and the remaining Alps mound before reaching the green.
Additional shaping work has also raised part of the fairway short of the mound, creating better visibility and a more playable option for golfers laying up short of the Alps mound.
The green itself remains largely unchanged, but the back portion has been slightly elevated to help feed longer, lower-running approach shots back toward the center of the putting surface.
These enhancements stay true to the spirit of Raynor’s original design while making the hole more enjoyable and playable for players of all skill levels.
